The pain

Cross-platform sharing is still broken

People shouldn’t need the same brand of phone to hand someone a photo across the table. Yet that’s the daily reality—especially for Android and iOS users stuck in the same room.

Walled gardens

AirDrop, Nearby Share, and OEM “quick share” tools stop at the brand line. Mixed groups improvise with email, chat apps, or USB cables.

Cloud as a crutch

Drive and chat uploads work… slowly. They need accounts, internet, storage quotas, and they leave a copy somewhere you didn’t mean to keep forever.

No signal, no options

Events, basements, flights, dead zones—when the network is gone, most “share” features die. Share can still host on a phone hotspot with no data plan at all.

Open a room

Create or join a short room code. Share a link or QR so the other person lands in the same space—no account signup.

Pick a person

See who’s online in the room. Tap them, choose one or many files, and they accept what they want—before anything bulk-downloads onto their device.

Transfer peer-to-peer

Bytes go WebRTC device-to-device. The host only helps with signaling (tiny messages to connect you)—not storing your vacation video.

Accept or decline per file, cancel one file without killing the batch, and get a clear state if someone leaves or the link drops.

Private by architecture

File bytes are not uploaded to Share for storage. Transfer is direct (encrypted in transit via WebRTC). Signaling is only presence and connection help.

Send several files at once. Receivers can accept a subset. Progress and cancel work per file so one bad pick doesn’t wipe the whole batch.

QR + room codes

Get someone on the same room without spelling a URL over noise. Ideal when you’re shoulder-to-shoulder at a table or event.
